I’ve found that, when I give lectures and workshops, am interviewed by reporters and as a guest on radio call-in talk shows, that the most popular area of the paranormal is ghosts. What are ghosts? Do they exist? Do I believe in ghosts? What is an apparition? What is a poltergeist? What is a haunting? How do I find a real ghost hunter? How do I find a real paranormal group? Prove to me ghosts exist. And more….
Parapsychology, is the division of the paranormal that studies psychic phenomena scientifically, without bias. Survival theory is that a part of humans and animals lives on after death of the physical body. “Ghosts” is a collective generic term for apparitions, hauntings and poltergeists which I refer to as the traumatic trio.
Apparitions can be seen, heard, felt by touch or bodily sensation, smelled, tasted or sensed. They have intelligence. Parapsychologists recognize different types of this phenomenon:
· The Dead: Usually they appear to try to comfort those close to them or to convey information.
· Crisis: They communicate they are in severe trauma. Most of these are dying or have just died, although some have survived.
· Collective: These are seen by more than one person.
· Deathbed: When some are dying, they see and can communicate with departed loved ones shortly before the moment of death.
· Reciprocal: Apparitions of the living when both experients and agents are aware of each other.

Hauntings, like apparitions, can be seen, heard, felt by touch or bodily sensation, smelled, tasted or sensed. They do not have intelligence and are like a video tape played in time and space. They’re confined to one location and repeat the same actions.
Poltergeists are created by psychokinesis, PK, the ability of the mind to affect matter. There are two types of this phenomenon, human agent, HAP, and entity agent, EAP. It is the entity agent that is a ghost. HAPs are a psychological phenomenon. There is a profile. Agents are feeling very unpleasant emotions such as low self-esteem, anger and frustration and, when tested for PK, have higher results than the norm. William G. Roll, one of the leading experts of poltergeists, coined the term “recurrent spontaneous psychokinesis,” PK for this type of phenomena. The cure is psychotherapy if the activity doesn’t stop spontaneously which it often does. It is a misconception that children going through puberty are agents. There are many cases of adult agents.
EAPs have an intelligence of their own. Their antics include rappings, knockings, moving objects (including heavy ones), ringing bells, making water appear, biting, scratching and starting fires.

Recently, some have proposed a theory that poltergeists aren’t ghosts. Entities or spirits cause the phenomena; therefore, this type of poltergeist is a ghost. For more information, please read http://ghosts-hauntings.suite101.com/article.cfm/are_poltergeists_ghosts
A couple of nights ago, I watched Poltergeist! I saw it years ago and had forgotten most of it except for the fact that it is sheer fantasy. I was entranced by the technology. I admit that when I watch a paranormal movie, especially those “based on a true story,” I usually get a case of the giggles because the events are so far removed from reality, it is fiction. This was no exception. My cats, Draco and Minx, looked at me in bewilderment while I giggled. Why am I writing about a fictional movie? Because it was filmed in the Simi Valley. This is a case of a real Simi Valley poltergeist investigated by D. Scott Rogo. http://ghosts-hauntings.suite101.com/article.cfm/fire_poltergeist_simi_valley
Do I believe in ghosts? No. I don’t believe in chemistry, astronomy and many other things. Do I believe that ghosts exist? Good question. I do believe that something exists, as I believe that two parts of hydrogen and one part oxygen create water and there is a moon, that are called ghosts.
You want me to prove that ghosts exist? I’d rather have you prove to me they don’t, thank you.
As for the other questions…. There will be information in future blogs.
